Inspiring life journey

National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Kerala Chapter has organized an evening talk on the life journey of Mr.Sarath Babu, CEO, Foodking Catering Services Pvt.Ltd on 05th July, 08 at Hotel Presidency, Ernakulam.

The story of Mr.Sarath Babu, 26 years, is an inspiration for millions. A self-made entrepreneur, his mission is to help the poor through job creation. E Sarathbabu, who was born in a slum in Chennai, hit the headlines after he rejected several high profile job offers with mind boggling packages from various MNCs after he passed out Engineering from BITS,Pilani and MBA equivalent programme from IIM, Ahmedabad two years ago. Though he had dreams of a fancied corporate life, Sarath Babu turned down all the offers that came his way. Instead he started Foodking Catering Services Pvt Ltd, inspired by his mother who once sold Iddlis to bring up her children.

Currently his restaurants are functioning in various high profile campuses like BITS,Pilani, IIM Ahmedabad and corporates like TCS, Bangalore. The turnover of the company is Rs 10 crores now and he is planning to double it in 2 years time.

Sarath Babu speaking

Sarath Babu speaking

His thought process changed when he happened to visit Bihar and saw villagers carrying coals literally and walking 40 km just to earn Rs.20/= a day. ‘We talk about India shining and India growing, but we should ensure that people do not die of hunger. We can be a developed country but we should not leave the poor people behind. I am worried for them because I know what hunger is and I still remember the days I was hungry,’ says Sarath Babu.
Right from childhood, he had developed thinking at the given set of condition come what may in life and always tries to think positive and capitalize the situation where he is in. He was citing when he has to rely on a kerosene lamp for his studies, he took positively that it has enhanced his concentration power whereas with the help of tube (light) his mind would have got distracted and no regrets about life.

His vision about his Food King enterprise and the people development orientation are amazing and it was a stupendous speech delivered which has kept the 100 plus crowd gathered on toes. Post his speech an open interactive session was also held where the questions poised was well answered.
Shri. P.J. Joy,Chairman,NIPM-Kerala Chapter welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest speaker and Shri.Johnson Mathew, Hon. Secretary proposed vote of thanks.
